Grading Schemes in a Course
Course Grading Schemes
A grading scheme, also known as a grade scale, is a set of criteria that measures varying levels of achievement in a course. Course-level grading schemes can be defined at both the course level and the assignment level. Course level grading schemes will be applied to students' final grades.
Grading schemes are built based on percentage ranges, and each percentage range is assigned a value.
Grades can enter grades as points, percentages, letters, or EX for excused. For example, if an assignment is worth 100 points, you could still enter a letter grade and Canvas will calculate it based on the Grading Scheme for a course or assignment.
▶︎ Applying Grading Schemes to Assignments
Grading schemes can also be enabled at the assignment level and will be applied to specific assignment grades.
