Publishing Content for Students to See
Making Content Visible to Students
Students can't see anything in Canvas unless it is published. This means you can work on pages, assignments, or anything else without students looking at them before you are finished. There are 3 layers of publishing in Canvas.
1 Course
Students can not see your course until it is published, even though they are automatically enrolled.

Click Unpublish to hide the course from students. The buttons change when the course is unpublished:
2 Module
If your course is published, students can see all of the modules that are published. This module is published, so the Checkmark icon is displayed. If you unpublish it, the icon will change to the null symbol.
3 Item
Even if a module is published, students can only see the items inside it that are published. This item is unpublished, so it displays the null symbol:
