Using McGraw Hill Studysync with Grade Passback

As of July 2023, the McGraw Hill LTI® Link: Grades and Assignment Integration tool syncs assignments and enables grade passback between the programs hosted on the McGraw Hill Open Learning Platform and your district's Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). While the same guidance generally applies to all McGraw Hill ConnectEd products, this guidance is specific to Studysync. For McGraw Hill Inspire and Reveal, separate guidance is available.

Please note: In Columbus City Schools, most courses High School courses are semesterized into X and Y with unique section IDs. This process will need to be repeated for each semester.

Video Guidance

Columbus City Schools does utilize Single Sign-On (SSO) and auto-rostering. Your McGraw Hill class list and their enrollments are generated by the nightly rostering files sent to McGraw Hill. Changes made in the student information system, such as adds and drops, will be reflected the next day.

Prior to syncing assignments and grades between your McGraw Hill classes and Canvas, you need to pair your class.

Pairing is done from the Modules page, and only needs to be done once for each class section. This video shows the process for paring your Canvas class with McGraw Hill. For CCS, the McGraw Hill assignment sync and grade passback tool is named: McGraw Hill AS+GPB.

Cross Listing

New for 2023, McGraw Hill's Canvas integration now supports cross listing for most content. Cross listing allows a single Canvas 'parent' course to control multiple 'child' courses by nesting them. Once cross listed, a single assignment can be shared across all courses. Courses must be cross listed at the beginning of the year or semester. Users cannot de-cross list courses.
