Component 4 is about the instructional and assessment decisions you make over time to support your students' learning. A key skill is the ability to analyze student assessment in order to make strong instructional decisions. Protocols help us analyze student work/assessment more deeply. In your certificate group or with your colleagues consider using this NBRC Protocol for Looking for Evidence of Understanding in Student¹s Work.docx Download NBRC Protocol for Looking for Evidence of Understanding in Student¹s Work.docx The idea is that you use other colleagues to look at your student's work without describing everything about your goals, etc. and they describe what they see. Often times they see very different things than you see.
Now it's time to write! Remember, use your Standard Organizer to be sure you're showing evidence from your Standards. Use your group for help. Candidates that use a collaborative group and brought writing samples received the best feedback. This is not the time to be shy or critical about your writing. We are not scored on how well we spell, write, or use grammar. Write as though you're talking to a colleague you respect!
